Otto is a MULTIMEDIA ARTIST.
He is a production designer for events, tvc, film and is also active in the theater arts scene.
Aside from his visual art practice (painting/sculpture/multimedia), he extends his interests in musical scoring and sound designing for events such as Philippine Fashion Week 2009 (Raymond Villanueva sections), Dita Sandico Ong for Philippine Fashion Week 2008, Absolut Vodka product launches and independent films/shorts like SILANG MAY SALAH by Alyx Ayn Arumpac, WALANG PARAISO by Ivy Baldosa and HUNA HUNA directed by Wilfred Galila. Along with his band, Makiling, he performed, composed, recorded and co-produced the original soundtrack for Pandango, a Cinema One original in which he is also musical director and sound designer.
He is currently a member of Makiling (formerly known as Makiling Ensemble), a band of which the music is inspired by the traditional music cultures of the world, these traditions are then fused with modern musical idioms in a highly original and stylized manner. Makiling has performed all over the Philippines and in Berlin, Germany for the Internationale Tourismus Borse. They have three independent albums, MEDYO MODERN, PATINTERO SA ILALIM NG BUWAN, and MALAKAS AT MAGANDA.
He recently participated with the UP NOH ensemble as a performer/delegate to the JOURNEES THEATRALES du CARTHAGE 2007, 13th BI-ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL THEATER FESTIVAL (November 28-Dec 8 2007) held in Tunis, Republic of Tunisia.
He attended the FORUM EXPANDED at the BERLINALE 2008 (Feb 07-Feb17) held in Berlin, Germany which featured the acclaimed film YEARS WHEN I WAS A CHILD OUTSIDE (family multi-channel) by John Torres and the music of Makiling and Khavn de la cruz.
Otto studied Fine Arts majoring in painting at UP Diliman. He finished high school at the Philippine High School for the Arts and majored in visual arts and attended grade school in Assumption Iloilo.
